Mariano Rivera is the recipient of this year’s Joe DiMaggio Award.
Rivera, considered by many to be the greatest closer in the history of baseball, has focused on healthcare and education for children through the Mariano Rivera Foundation. The award was established in 1999 in memory of DiMaggio, the “Yankee Clipper,” who was devoted to the educational needs of students with learning disabilities.
A dinner in Rivera’s honor will be held on Thursday, May 5, at the Metropolitan Club of New York, with proceeds going to benefit Futures in Education and The Columbus Citizens Foundation. For more information about the evening, Rivera and DiMaggio, please see the official invitation. Learn more about sponsorship opportunities here.
