Alex Perez was born and raised in the Parkchester section of The Bronx. Alex attended St. Helena’s Grammar School, where he received all his sacraments. Alex was very involved with the Church, volunteering as an altar boy and an after school counselor. After graduating in 1996 from St. Helena’s, Alex attended nearby St. Raymond High School for Boys. While at St. Raymond High School he became the men’s basketball team manager. The team was nationally ranked all four years and would later win a coveted state title in 1993.
During his years at St. Raymond High School, Alex volunteered for five summers at the St. Vincent DePaul Society, which held a summer-long camp for inner city children in Peekskill, NY. Alex graduated from St. Raymond High School in 1995 and went on to Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY. He studied a year at Manhattan College before transferring to St. John’s University in Queens, NY, where he was offered a full scholarship to be the head manager of the men’s basketball team. That team would go on to an Elite 8 in 1999 and won a Big East Championship in 2000. Alex graduated with a B.S. in Sports Management in 1999 and received his MBA in Marketing in 2002.
Alex took a job with Fiji Water after graduating St. John’s University in 2000. He relocated to Philadelphia, PA where he was named Mid-Atlantic Regional Manager. During this time Alex realized his passion was in finance.
In 2004, Alex took a job on the trading floor of the New York Mercantile Exchange with MBF Clearing Corp., where he started out as a trading clerk in the oil pits and became a trader in 2006. Alex continues to trade crude oil, natural gas, heating oil, gasoline, gold and silver futures for MBF Clearing Corp in the financial district of New York.
Alex currently resides in Scarsdale, NY with his wife Ingrid and son Braxton. Alex is an avid New York Mets, St. John’s Basketball, San Antonio Spurs and Real Madrid fan. Alex and his family are a part of the St. Pius X Parish in Scarsdale.
