The joyous
entertainment provided by Wade Preston, known from the musical
Movin’ Out, received rave reviews from all in
attendance. His energy and enthusiasm electrified the audience
and set a wonderful tone for the evening.
Our “Friends” were also able to witness, first hand, the
bond that is formed between an Angel and their student.
Ms. Dorothy Bailey, from St.
Raphael
School, eloquently expressed her
gratitude concerning
the importance of being involved in the
Angel program. In turn her “Angel” Peg was able to explain the
gratification that comes from supporting a student.
Unforgettable memories of the late, Tom “The Bomb” Barnwell
were shared by his family members and close friends, who
remembered Tom as a man who effortlessly gave to so many,
especially Futures in Education. His name and his memory
were honored as a focus of the evening.
“Friends” also had a chance to bid on an excellent array of
auction items; it was a chance to pick up some great items
while assisting the children with scholarship support.
These items ranged from lavish hotel stays at the Plaza
Atheneé, a delicious dinner for two at the Water Club, to
memorable signed photos of Derek Jeter & Joba
Chamberlain. It was all topped off with an exciting live
auction of tickets to the finale at Yankee Stadium.
The night ended beautifully with the performance of a
string ensemble from Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament; this
classic ensemble entertained guests as they sipped their
coffee and enjoyed their dessert before heading home after a
fun-filled evening.
