Centennial Medal Awarded to Futures in Education

On September 27th, 2008, The School of Education of St. John’s University proudly presented the Diocese of Brooklyn’s Futures in Education Foundation with the Centennial Medal. In attendance at the ceremony were Futures Corporate Board members, Monsignor John J. Bracken, Mr. Charles B. McQuade and Ms. Peg Kelly representing Futures during this honorable experience.

“For nearly 20 years, the Diocese of Brooklyn’s Futures in Education Foundation invested in a most precious commodity - children. Test scores continue to rise, as do other quality indicators. A remarkable 99 percent of students from Futures’ schools graduate and more than 90 percent go on to post secondary education. Obviously the dedication of Diocesan teachers and the commitment to education of parents and students alike merit high praise for these extraordinary results. But without the resources provided by the generous individuals and corporate benefactors of Futures, such success would not be possible. Indeed, Futures is blessed, not only by their generosity but by the extraordinary dedication of its Advisory Board whose members, under the leadership of Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio, give of their time and talent as well as their resources to ensure that children have a bright future.”

Mindful of the mission of St. John’s University to serve those most in need, St. John’s honored a program that is equally committed to making a tangible difference in the lives of thousands of young people who might otherwise be deprived of educational opportunity.

We at Futures are extremely honored to have been presented with this award and want to thank all of our advisory board members, donors and supporters who make what we do possible.
