Kevin M. Kearney is a partner in the law firm of Wingate, Kearney & Cullen, LLP, a law firm which has represented the Diocese of Brooklyn since 1892. Kevin has worked with the firm since 1974. His father, John, was with the firm for over 50 years and counsel to four Diocesan Bishops. In his capacity as Diocesan counsel, Kevin and the firm act as legal advisor to the Diocesan Bishop and Diocesan administrative staff in all areas of civil law. He has provided all of the legal services in connection with the creation and incorporation of the Alive In Hope Foundation, Futures in Education Foundation and Futures in Education Endowment, including the merger of the Futures in Education Corporation, now known as “Futures In Education”, all of which have as their purpose assistance to students in financial need.

 

Kevin and the firm also act as counsel to many other religious and not-for-profit corporations such as the Eparchy of Saint Maron of Brooklyn, Catholic Near East Welfare Association, Aid to the Church in Need, Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Stamford, Apostolic Exarchate for the Melkites in the United States, to name but a few. He also is a Director of Concern Worldwide, U.S. an international humanitarian organization which maintains programs in 25 of the world’s poorest countries and he serves as the Chair of its Audit Committee. He has traveled extensively to Asia, Africa and Haiti in connection with this work. He is also a Director of Mutual of America Investment Corporation and Institutional Fund and serves as Chair of their Audit Committees. He is a Knight Commander, Equestrian Order the Holy Sepulchre.

 

Kevin was raised in Our Lady Help of Christian’s parish where he attended elementary school and then Nazareth Diocesan High School. He attended Manhattan College. He has a law degree from St. John’s University and is admitted to practice in all courts in the State of New York and the Supreme Court of the United States.

 

He and his wife Mary Beth currently reside in St. Frances deSales parish in Belle Harbor and are the parents of Christine, Elisa and Sean.
